Unsung heroes: Stephen

This week, Julius Rutherfoord & Co are celebrating one of our unsung heroes who has recovered from COVID-19 and is now back to his role as Commercial Manager.

At the end of February the JR&Co Board of Directors put the necessary measures in place to enable remote working for the day-to-day running of the business. The main aim of this proactive approach, well before the UK Government Guidance, was to ensure that if any of our team became infected with Coronavirus, their colleagues and our clients would not be affected.

JR&Co was ahead of the curve, in 2019 we invested in a specialist Clorox T360 machine.  The electrostatic technology enables superior coverage of Clorox trusted disinfectants in hard to reach places — the side, underside and backside of surfaces. Using the Clorox Total 360 has proven a vital tool in protecting our clients and has been used across our client’s premises since January.

This foresight has enabled us to seamlessly continue our operations across London.

A few days after starting to work remotely, our Commercial Manager, Stephen contracted COVID-19 from his father-in-law. Feeling unwell, he was admitted to hospital due to mild asthma and an underlying health problem. Stephen was quite unwell for a number of days and thankfully was discharged 10 days after being admitted. Sadly his 85-year-old father-in-law lost his battle at the same time. The thoughts of all at JR&Co go out to Stephen and his family for their loss.

We are delighted that Stephen has now returned to work, working remotely from home, supporting his colleagues in safeguarding our client’s premises and the wellbeing of our employees.

On his return Stephen told us: “I am incredibly grateful to all the staff at the hospital who contributed to my recovery, as well as JR&Co’s actions which saved my colleagues from being infected”.
