London Borough of Merton extends contract with JR&Co to 2022
JR&Co have held the cleaning contract with the London Borough of Merton’s Children, Schools and Families Department since 2009 and are delighted that we have just been awarded an extension to our partnership into 2022. Having successfully retendered twice during the contract term the extension will take our relationship to a 13 year term.
We supply passionate, expert staff to 37 educational premises throughout the Borough, led by a dedicated contract management team headed up by Senior Operations Manager Sue Parker.
When we took on the contract, several of the schools were affected by norovirus and thanks to our meticulous processes and procedures and regular touchpoint cleaning there have been no outbreaks in 11 years. This experience has meant touchpoint cleaning has long been in our psyche and has been fundamental in keeping the spaces we clean free from COVID-19 occurrences throughout the pandemic.
In recognition of her contribution to keeping people safe Sue was recently awarded an unsung heroes award and certificate of appreciation from Elliott Coburn, MP for her contribution during the pandemic.
Our entire cleaning and management team have undertaken “Enhanced Cleaning during COVID-19” training and are regularly nominated for JR&Co Star Awards by our clients thanks to their hard work and the fantastic standards they deliver on a daily basis. Some of these lovely comments can be seen below. You can view more accolades at http://www.juliusrutherfoord.co.uk/jr-co-stars

‘’I am extremely happy with Sue and the team’s effort during the Covid - 19 cleaning and information been passed over through the schools of Merton. The standards have been effective and consistent.’’

“May I also congratulate your company and echo the below recommendation. As a professional Facilities Manager with 15 years in Education and Health Care, I have come across many cleaning companies and I have to say, JR&Co are up there with the best of them.”
– Dean Page, Facilities Manager Melbury College Group
“On behalf of the Ursuline Community I want to commend the Cleaning Team on the excellent work they have done through lockdown. Their consistency and dedication has been really appreciated. Please pass on my heartfelt thanks for all they have done”
– Julia Waters, Headteacher, Ursuline High School
“We have used Julius Rutherfoord here since before I arrived in September 2014. They are one of very few old suppliers I have not changed because the service provided is exemplary from the everyday clean, to the termly deep cleans to the one off emergency cleans.
I am particularly happy with the senior operations manager, Sue Parker, whom I meet termly and speak to from time to time on the phone. I do feel that JR work in partnership and are always willing to go the extra mile; emptying and re-using clear recycle bags, providing emergency caretaking staff cover, moving to a night clean and carrying out the secure lock-up and alarm and arranging for window cleaning etc.
The one huge stand out for me is the good nature and happiness of the cleaners and the cleaner-supervisor; always with a smile and respectful greeting, sometime humming, whistling or singing. We operate a communications book system in the staff room where colleagues can register any issues. This is checked by the supervisor each evening and a reply note left. Rarely do we get more than a few comments per term and even more rarely is the same issue repeated.
Just recently, they gave leadership to a comprehensive cleaning response for Coronavirus mitigation and on 09/03/2020 published their attached ongoing touchpoint cleaning programme along with an escalation route if an infection is suspected. I’m not sure many organisations were that far ahead of the curve and I recall that many people did not yet believe in the pandemic.
I have expanded my use of JR by taking on a supply caretaker from them and, just this week, a day cleaner for Corona risk mitigation who does three circuits daily of the school cleaning touchpoints in all areas.
In summary, a company committed to excellence who share our values and goals.”
- Tadhg Fahy, School Business Manager, St Teresa’s RC School
